UK POLICY TOWARDS UN COMMITTEE OF 24

1.

Following agreement by Ministers of Miss Solesby's submission of 10 May on our policy towards the Committee of 24, a telegram has been sent today to UKMIS New York authorizing them to begin informal discussions about our policy with Salim, the Chairman of the Committee.

2. I attach a draft telegram to Brunei, the Associated States, and the Governors of the dependent territories explaining the decisions and their significance.

3. I would appreciate receiving any comments you, or any of the copy addressees may have, by close of play on Monday 3 June.
