(e) Treatment and Rehabilitation Sub-Committee

Terms of Reference :-

To apply .C.A.N.'s terms of reference specifically

to the medical and social rehabilitation of addicts, whether convicted prisoners or volunteers.

Membership :-

Representatives of the :-

Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Addicts,

Medical Department,

Prisons Department,

Secretariat for Chinese Affairs,

Social Welfare Department,

Hong Kong Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society,

Mental Health Association of Hong Kong,

Hong Kong Chinese Medical Association,

Lutheran World Federation.

In November 1966 and again in August 1970 A.C.A.N.'s

Terms of Reference were amended to amplify and strengthen them and to bring within their purview the synthetic drugs. At present

the Terms of Reference are :-

(a) To ensure co-ordination and co-operation between all

Government and voluntary agencies working towards the

elimination of the narcotic and other illicit drug

traffic in Hong Kong, and the cure and rehabilitation

of drug dependants and to enlist public support for

these aims and objects.

(b) To ensure by the exchange of information that

available resources are being directed to these

ends to the fullest extent and with the least

possible overlapping.
