South Vietnamese police are to burn six tons of raw opium and morphine base captured on a Thai trawler 11 days ago. It will be among 15 tons of illegal narcotics to be burned.

Eight Thais and a Chinese Thai are still being questioned in Saigon after being brought from Nha Trang port on the central coast where the illicit drugs were found in the hold of their trawler.

The Thai vessel was stopped by a Vietnamese navy gunboat in South Vietnam territorial waters while on its way from Thailand to Hongkong.
