To the best of my knowledge, the Americans do not know that I am aware of LAW's approach, the meetings on the Thai-Burma border, or that I have the documents attached to this note. As they particularly impressed upon my informant that he should not contact the British in Hong Kong about this matter, to protect his confidence to me they must not get to know either directly or indirectly. This is particularly important having regard to possible future developments.
