Dear Dick.

You will probably recall writing to me on the 3rd. August, to report information passed on by Mr. Driberg about four Police officers here who were said to be engaged in corrupt practices.

Since I replied on the 31st. August saying that we shared your view that there was little that could usefully be done unless Mr. Driberg's informant decided to make more specific allegations, Charles Sutcliffe, the Commissioner of Police, has sent me a letter suggesting that we press you to pursue the matter.

I enclose a copy.

Whilst I understand and sympathise with his evident frustration, I still remain doubtful whether in fact much can be done. I am nevertheless writing in case you may feel able to approach Mr. Driberg and seek more assistance from him, or to take some other action.

Yurs ever,

Peter.
