I have been somewhat perplexed by the case of Chief Superintendant Godber and the fact that no effort seems to have been made to either confirm or deny the allegations made against him!! I was, therefore, more than pleased to see that Tom Pendry was to raise the question with you.

I have no doubt that this Officer has a perfectly good answer to his critics but so long as he remains silent people are going to think otherwise.

I trust that you will issue an explanation in the very near future so as the publics minds can be put at rest.
