WE HAVE NOW SEEN COLEMANYS LETTER OF 30 NOVEMBER TO YOU AND ASTON'S TELEX NO ACCOM 61 TO CRAWFORD COPIED TO YOU.
WE CONSIDER THAT IT WOULD BE DESIRABLE TO MOVE THE TRADE COMMISSION OFFICES FROM THE SHELL BUILDING TO THE NEW GAMMONS BUILDING AS SUGGESTED BY THE POST. IN VIEW OF THE SHARP INCREASE IN RENT NOW DEMANDED IN THE SHELL BUILDING AND THE FACT THAT THERE IS NOW NO GREAT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TOTAL RENT DEMANDED IN THE SHELL BUILDING AND THE NEW GAMMONS BUILDING WE FEEL THAT THE OPPORTUNITY NOW OFFERED SHOULD BE TAKEN UP AND WE SHOULD RENT OFFICE SPACE FOR THE TRADE COMMISSION IN THE GAMMONS BUILDING. THIS SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A SATISFACTORY RESOLUTION OF THE DIFFICULTIES OVER THE LEASE REFERRED TO IN THE THIRD PARAGRAPH OF COLEMAN'S LETTER AND COMMENTED ON IN ASTON'S TELEX.
WE ALSO FEEL THAT THE QUESTION OF TAKING A WHOLE FLOOR WITH A 5% RENT REDUCTION AND SUBLETTING THE SURPLUS SPACE SHOULD BE EXAMINED WITH A VIEW TO REDUCING THE RENT PAID. THE REASONS IN FAVOUR OF THE MOVE ARE GIVEN IN ASTON'S LETTER 94/5 OF 7 MAY 1973 TO CRAWFORD A COPY OF WHICH WAS SENT TO DEMOS. THE D.T.1. STRONGLY SUPPORT THE VIEWS THEREIN EXPRESSED BY THE TRADE COMMISSIONER.
AS STATED IN BRASNETT'S TELEX NO DOE 809 TO SLATER WE REGARD THE PROVISION OF DISPLAY SPACE AS A SEPARATE ISSUE.
