As you will see from telegram 219 from the Governor of Hong Kong, the programme for this visit will be:
Saturday 31 March
Arrive from China
Afternoon talks with Senior British Trade Commissioner and staff about
performance and promotion of British trade in Hong Kong
Dinner with Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (speech on Britain's
economic prospects)
Sunday 1 April
Meeting with Governor (and presumably Hong Kong officials on "Hong Kong's trade with Britain and any other issues the Secretary of State wishes to raise.
Press conference at airport before departure for Singapore at 3.05 pm.
Additionally, we hope to fit in a meeting with Mr Y K Pao of World-Wide Shipping.

I should be grateful if you would be responsible for co-ordinating the briefing for this visit; we should assemble contributions by Friday, 9 March, and have the final version ready for submission in the middle of the following week. As the Secretary of State's visit will be so short, we should endeavour to limit each section of the brief to no more than one page if possible (particularly bearing in mind that Mr Heseltine will be in Hong Kong the previous weekend for full discussions on sactions 8 and 9 below. Mr Hubback has been asked to co-ordinate Mr Heseltine's briefing.)
