Biography
Peter HORDERN, ii.P.
(Horsham)
Feter (udslay) Hordern was born in 1929.
He was educated in Australia and at Christ Church, Oxford, where he received his .A.
He is married, with two sons.
He was commissioned in the 60th Rifles, from 1947-!,
when he went up to Oxford.
Mr. Poruer is a stockbroker. He joined his presont firm in 1952, after leaving Oxford. He was taken into partnershin in 1956.
ix. 1951 he contested North Kensington in the 1.0.0. elections, reducing the Dabour majority from 4,500 to 980.
Kr. Hordern was elected H.F. ror Horsham at the 1964 General Election and has held the seat ever since.
fle was a joint Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Finance Committee and secretary of the Parliamentary Science and Technology Committee. He is a member of the executive of the 1922 Committee. Following the 1970 General Election Ir. Hordern was elected chairman of the Conservative Farliamentary Finance Committee.
Mr. Hordern's special interests are in economics, in which he is a Front Bench spokesman for the Party. Since he has been a Member of Parliament he has visited France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the U.S.A. tọ study the comparitive methods in prices and incomes policies and has made a special study of the trade union system in those countries.
He has also visited the E.E.C. countries and the U.S.A. to inspect "computer installations and has himself completed a course on the use of computers.
