REGIONAL SURVEY AND BRIEFING COURSE ON TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF NUCLEAR POWER DEVELOPMENT.

1. The International Atomic Energy Agency, in co-operation with the Government of Thailand and in association with the UN Economic Commission in Asia and the Far East, are holding a regional survey briefing course on the technical and economic aspects of nuclear power development in Bangkok from 3- 18 December 1973. The course is primarily intended for senior government officials and managerial level staff from economic development authorities and electricity generation authorities connected with the initiation, evaluation and management of nuclear projects and programmes. IAEA have suggested that the course may be of direct interest to two companies in Hong Kong, The China Light and Power Co Ltd, and the Hong Kong Electrical Co Ltd.

2. I enclose a copy of an invitation letter from the IAEA and a copy of the prospectus which gives details of the administrative and financial arrangements. You will note that nominations have to reach the IAEA not later than 15 September 1973. Unfortunately the DTI, who send us these papers, have been unable to obtain copies of the nomination forms. I will however try to send these to you as soon as possible. In the meantime would you please ask the two companies if they wish to nominate representatives for this course. If they do I should be grateful if you would ae time is-short-telegraph to let me know so I can inform the UK representative to the IAEA in Vienna.
