REPORT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE HONG KONG GOVERNMENT
CHINESE LIAISON OFFICE IN LONDON
I am not sure whether you have ever seen these
papers. The Information Officer at the Hong Kong
Government Office in London produced a Report about
two years ago on their liaison work with the Chinese
Immigrant community in the UK. This report has
now been approved by the Hong Kong Government.
Liaison Section will now be expanded and approval
has been given in principle to the establishment of
branch offices in Liverpool and Edinburgh. It is
likely that the Liverpool office will open some time
thisyear.

We thought that the Home Office and Department
of Productivity and Employment might be interested
to see copies of this Report (although their attention
should be drawn to the fact that it was written two
years ago). However, they might like to know of the
Hong Kong Government Office's plans. If you agree,
perhaps you would send a copy to your contacts in
both Ministries I attach two spare copies for this
purpose.
