REPORT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE HONG KONG GOVERNMENT

CHINESE LIAISON OFFICE IN LONDON

I am not sure whether you have ever seen these

papers. The Information Officer at the Hong Kong

Government Office in London produced a Report about

two years ago on their liaison work with the Chinese

Immigrant community in the UK. This report has

now been approved by the Hong Kong Government.

Liaison Section will now be expanded and approval

has been given in principle to the establishment of

branch offices in Liverpool and Edinburgh. It is

likely that the Liverpool office will open some time

thisyear.

The

We thought that the Home Office and Department

of Productivity and Employment might be interested

to see copies of this Report (although their attention

should be drawn to the fact that it was written two

years ago). However, they might like to know of the

Hong Kong Government Office's plans. If you agree,

perhaps you would send a copy to your contacts in

both Ministries I attach two spare copies for this

purpose.
