Explanatory Note

(This Note is not part of the regulations,

but is intended to indicate their general purport.)

These regulations amend the principal

regulations by

(a) extending the time within which nominations

for vacancies are to be received;

(b) providing for holding a fresh poll at a

polling station where the original poll at

that station has been declared void due to

the theft, loss or destruction of, or .

damage to a ballot paper or a copy of a

register of electors.

The form of the ballot paper (Form 13) is

revised by showing the counterfoil number on the

back instead of on the front. This facilitates the

.printing of the serial numbers on to the ballot papers

by the Government Printer.
