A BILL

To

Amend the Television Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the

advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

Short title.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Television

(Amendment) Ordinance 1972.

Amendment of section 9. (Cap. 52.)

2. Section 9 of the principal Ordinance is amended

in subsection (2) by deleting "at the expiry of each five

year period" and substituting the following

"on the 19th November 1972 or on such later

date as may be determined by the Governor in

Council by order published in the Gazette".

Explanatory Memorandum

The Government proposes to issue in the near

future two new licences under the principal Ordinance.

However, before the new licences are issued it is

proposed to amend the principal Ordinance extensively.

The purpose of this Bill is to postpone the

date of first renewal of the licence already issued to

TVB under the principal Ordinance until after the main

amending Bill has been enacted, so that the existing

licence may be, renewed on the same terms and conditions

as those on which it is proposed to issue the new

licences.
