Appointment of Commander, British Forces, Hong Kong, for the time being, to be Governor.

Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions

beyond the Seas, King, Lefender of the Faith:

to the Commander, British Forces, Hong Kong, for the time being, Greeting.

We do, by this Our Commission under our

Sign Manual and signet, appoint you, the Commander, British Forces, Hong Kong, for the time being, to be, during Our pleasure, Our

Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Cur

Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies, with

all the powers, rights, privileges and

advantages to the said office belonging or

appertaining.

to be Governor and Commander-in-Chief,

Patent.

Commencement of Commission.

II. And we do hereby authorise, empower and

command you to exercise and perform all and

singular the powers and directions contained in

certain Letters Patent under the Great Seal,

constituting the office of Governor and

Commander-in-Chief of our said Colony and its

Dependencies, bearing date at westminster the

Fourteenth day of February, 1917, or in any

other Letters Fatent adding to, amending or

substituted for the same, according to auch

Orders and Instructions as Cur said Governor

and Commander-in-Chief for the time being hath

already received, and to such further orders

and Instructions as you may hereafter receive

from Us.

III. And we do hereby appoint that this Our

present Commission shall come into operation

upon such day as you, the Commander, British

Forces, Hong Kong, for the time being, shall,

after consultation with our said Governor and

Commander-in-chief for the time being and with

the prior approval of Our secretary of State for

the Col nies by writing under your hand appoint:

Provided that, if you, the Commander, British

Forces, Hong Kong, for the time being, shall,

in your absolute discretion, be satisfied that

it is not practicable to obtain the approval of

Our Secretary of state for the Colonies as

hereinbefore provided, this our present

Commission shall come into operation upon such

date as you after consultation with Our said

Governor and Commander-in-Chief for the time

being, shall by writing under your hand appoint.

IV. And further we do hereby appoint that, so

soon as you shall have taken the prescribed

Gaths and have entered upon the duties of

your office, this Our present Commission snall

supersede any Commission under Our Sign Manual

and signet for the time being in force

appointing any person to be Our Governor and

Commander-in-Chief of Cur said Colony and its

Dependencies.

V. And further we do hereby appoint that

this our present Commission shall determine

upon signification to that effect being

given by us through one of our Principal

Secretaries of state.

VI.

Ande do hereby command all and singular

Our officers and loving subjects in our said

Colony and its Dependencies, and all others

whom it may concern, to take due notice hereof

and to give their ready obedience accordingly.

Given at Our Court at Saint James's,

this turnty-fifth day of June

in the Fifteenth Year of Our Reign.
