I have the honour to refer to Top Secret Despatch No 391
of 21 July 1951 from the then Secretary of State for the
Colonies, forwarding a Commission appointing, in certain
circumstances, the Commander British Forces, Hong Kong, for
the time being, as Governor and Commander in Chief, of the
Colony.
Her Majesty has been pleased to direct that the
Commission under the Sign Manual and Signet of his late
Majesty King George VI, dated 25 June 1951, shall forthwith
determine.
I shall be glad if you will communicate Her Majesty's
Direction to Lt-General Sir Richard Erskine Ward, the present
Commander British Forces, Hong Kong, requesting him to hand
the original Commission to you. I shall be grateful if you will then return it to me together with the copy in your
possession.
