MR RIPPON'S VISIT TO HONG KONG

I attach a draft Minute to Mr Grattan listing

briefs for Mr Rippon's tour - as requested in Mr

Laidler's minute of 8 August (26).

Of the Hong Kong briefs I have listed, (a),

(b) and (c) I have had prepared; (d), (e) and (f)

still remain to be done; and (g) will be prepared

by EID(1) in consultation with the DTI and us.

On this, you minuted on Hong Kong Tel No 741

attached. I have spoken again to EID(1) about

(3) of the Hong Kong Tel. They will provide the

brief but would like from us for a starter a

short note on the current arrangements for contact

between Hong Kong and the EEC.
