Absence from the Territory.

(a) Except for such regular and authorised purposes as

attendance at Conferences, a Governor does not

normally leave the Territory in which he is serving

without having first applied for the Queen's

permission. In practice such applications are not

submitted to the Queen. A Governor wishing to take

leave, or to be absent for any other purpose, will

address a senior official by semi-official letter

or sometimes by telegram. Short leaves, or leave

for necessary reasons requested at short notice,

may be authorised by Heads of Dependent Territory

Geographical Departments, but they should always
