THE SECRETARY OF STATE'S VISIT TO HONG KONG
In his minute dated 6 September, addressed to Mr Evans,
Far Eastern Department, Mr Acland recorded his discussion with
Sir Murray Maclenose and suggested an outline programme.

Now that the visit has been announced publicly you may
like to get the arrangements for the programme finalised.
attach a draft telegram to the Governor accordingly.

I see that Mr Acland's minute envisages on the Friday
morning a meeting with the Executive Council. When the
Secretary of State visited Hong Kong in February, it was
the Unofficial Members of Executive Council and Legislative
Council whom he saw. I wonder if it should not be the same
again.
4.
The point about the venue for the Press Conference
has been included at the request of News Department and has
been cleared with Protocol and Conference Department.
