NOTES FOR SUPPLEMENTARIES

SECRETARY OF STATE'S PROGRAMME DURING HIS VISIT TO HONG KONG

I visited one of Hong Kong's modern textile factories in

the Colóny's complex industrial area.

2.

I toured one of the Hong Kong Government's low-cost

housing estates and met and talked to some of the residents

there.

3. And I saw one of the Colony's oldest and most congested

resettlement estates and was shown the plans for its

conversion and modernisation.

MATTERS DISCUSSED WITH THE GOVERNOR AND HIS ADVISERS

Amongst the subjects covered by these discussions were

the import of textiles into this country, air traffic rights,

technical education and a number of other matters of general

interest.

5. The achievements of Hong Kong in the sphere of housing

are second to none. The Hong Kong Government nevertheless
