VISIT OF SIR ALEC DOUGLAS-HOME AND LADY DOUGLAS-HOME

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, the Rt.Hon.

Sir Alec Douglas-Home, will arrive in Hong Kong by air from Bangkok on

February 13 for a three-day visit. He will be accompanied by Lady Douglas-Home.

The Foreign Secretary is coming to Hong Kong following his

attendance upon Her Majesty The Queen during her State Visit to Thailand.

This will be the first opportunity he will have had of visiting the Colony

since he assumed responsibility for its affairs.

Sir Alec will be met on arrival at Kai Tak by His Excellency the

Governor and Lady MacLehose, the Colonial Secretary, the Hon. Sir Hugh

Norman-Walker, and other senior officials.

The Foreign Secretary and Lady Douglas-Home will be the guests of

the Governor and Lady MacLehose at Gernment House.

Sir Alec's party will include Sir Stanley Tomlinson, Deputy

Under Secretary of State in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office,

Mr. E.0. Laird, Head of the Hong Kong Department at the Foreign and

Commonwealth Office and Mr. J.A.N. Graham, his Private Secretary.

During his visit, the Foreign Secretary will see some of the

Colony's resettlement and low cost housing estates and hold talks with Unofficial

Members of the Executive and Legislative Councils.
