Suggested line to take
The new programmes of housing, education, social welfare, and the major public works
will have tremendous impact in the N.T. Indeed, the New Towns will be built to an even higher standard than the new estates of the Urban Areas. This will lead to greater prosperity and to a higher standard of living
for N.T. residents.
The Kuk may reply that the New Towns are basically for the Urban overflow, and that the rural areas are in danger of being ignored.
Suggested line to take
Policies announced by the Governor are intended equally to apply to the rural areas, though there will obviously be some variation in their
application.
I am aware of the plans
for the improvement of these rural areas, e.g. in housing and social services, and these areas will certainly not be ignored.
