tracting Parties shall impose upon the importation, ware- housing, transit, or exportation of any article, the growth, pro- duce, or manufacture of the territories of the other, any other or higher duty than that which is or may be imposed upon the like article, being the growth, produce, or manufacture of any other foreign country.

X. The 2 Contracting Parties further engage that any favour in matters of commerce which either of them may hereafter grant to any third Power, shall be also, and at the same time, extended to the other Contract- ing Party.

XI. The present Treaty shall continue in force for 10 years from the date of the exchange of the Ratifications thereof, and further until the end of 12 months after either of the 2 Contracting Parties shall have given notice to the other of its intention to terminate the same; each of the Contracting Parties being at liberty to give such notice to the other at the end of the said term of 10 years, or at

any

time afterwards.

XII. The present Treaty shall be ratified, and the Ratifications shall be exchanged at Berne as soon as possible within 12 months after its signature.

In witness whereof, the re- spective Plenipotentiaries have signed the same in the English and French languages, and have affixed thereto the seal of their

arms.

Contractantes ne pourra exiger pour l'importation, l'entrepôt, le transit, ou l'exportation des pro- duits du sol ou des manufactures de l'autre, des droits plus élevés que ceux qui sont ou qui pour- ront être imposés sur les mêmes articles, étant les produits du sol ou des manufactures de tout autre pays étranger.

X. Les 2 Parties Contrac- tantes s'engagent de plus, pour le cas où l'une d'elles accorderait dorénavant à une troisième Puis- sance quelque faveur en matière de commerce, à étendre aussi et en même temps cette faveur à: l'autre Partie Contractante.

XI. Le présent Traité restera en vigueur pendant 10 ans à dater du jour de l'échange des Ratifications, et de plus pendant 12 mois après que l'une des 2 Parties Contractantes aura déclaré à l'autre l'intention de renoncer au Traité; chacune des 2 Parties Contractantes étant libre d'en. notifier la résiliation à l'expiration des 10 ans, ou à toute époque ultérieure.

XII. Le présent Traité sera ratifié, et la Ratification en sera échangée à Berne dans 12 mois à dater de la signature, ou plutôt si faire se pourra.

En foi de quoi, les Plénipoten- tiaires respectifs ont signé le Traité dans les langues Anglaise et Française, et y ont apposé leurs sceaux.
