Thank you for your letter of 25 February
about housing
2.
I am now enclosing a copy of a letter sent
to Joe Carner by the Worker-Student Political
Action Committee.
As you will see, this deals
mainly with the conditions on resettlement
It has been sent to
estates, and in case we are tackled by the press
and incase we are tackle set by the Baroness Summerskill it would be most helpful
and
if you could let us have your comments as soon
as possible. We already know of course from your
letter of 25 February that the Housing Board have
plans for the relief of overcrowding in the
estates but could you please give us some
indication of the extent to which the problem will
be solved by the implementation of the Board's
proposals?
3.
Garner consulted us about his reply to the
Action Committee and with our agreement he took
the line that he did not think the letter affected
the
the validity of his general argument that very many Governments did very much less than/Hong Kong Git,
You may remember that this was the argument he
put forward during the debate in the House of
Lords making the point that no doubt all governments
could do more.
