I am writing to correct what I now find to have been a slight misunderstanding about the proposed aid to technical institutes. The figure of £400,000 over four years remains unchanged but it is hoped that a proportion of this will be found from British industry, thus reducing the amount to be carried on the Aid Programme.

I am copying this letter to Lee in the Treasury and Sanders in the DTI.
