between China (Tibet) and India. Although
having close cultural and ethnic affinities with
India she is becoming increasingly assertive of
her independence.
Britain has had relations with
Nepal for 150 years and is in a strong position to
exercise a beneficial influence in a situation
which is open to a variety of pressures.
The
Gurkha Brigade also constitutes a special interest
of some importance. The small information
operation in Nepal is expertly directed, provides excellent value for money, and should be preserved.
