Our industry to make EEC plea to UK
LEVEN powerful industrial organisations in Hongkong decided yesterday to make a representation to Britain's chief common market negotiator Mr. Geoffrey Ripponi regarding the set back Hongkong's industry would suffer if Britain joined the European Common Market.

This was disclosed by the vice president of the Chinese Manufacturers' Association, Mr. James Wu, following a closed door meeting of the organisations held at the CMA headquarters yesterday.
The organisations which took part in the closed door conference were the CMA, the Federation of Hongkong Industries, Hongkong Exporters' Association, Hongkong Rubber Manufacturers Association, Hongkong and Kowloon Footwear Manufacturers' Association, the Chiu Chau Plastic Manufacturers' Association, Hongkong Chinese Textile Mills Association, Hongkong Weaving Mills, Hongkong Woollen Knitting Manufacturers Association, the Federation of Hongkong Cotton Weavers and Hongkong Plastic Manufacturers Association,
Mr. Wu said that a committee representing all the cleven organisations was formed at yesterday's meeting to study the impact Britain's EEC membership will have on Hongkong's industry and to prepare a report.
The report will be submitted to Mr. Rippon when he visits Hongkong next month.
