The Government's programme for low ront homes over the next few

yoars includes better and larger accommodation for over 200,000 in

rosettlement estates, where flats will be sized on the basis of 35 squaro

fect an adult, with soparato taps and toilets for each family.

Ovor 1.1 million aro living in rosottloment homes, and another

76,000 will be so housed in now blocks in oight ostatos by the end of this

year.

On the basis of those figuros, a spokesman ostimates that half tho

population of Hong Kong, or 2.1 million residents, will be provided with

oithor low cost housing or rosettlemont flats by the Government by 1975.

59 BUILDING PLANS APPROVED

33 Certified For Occupation In Novembar

Fifty-nino now building plans of all types wore approved by the

Building Authority, and 33 completed buildings cortified for occupation

last Novembor.

Of the now building plans approved, 28 voro on Hong Kong Island,

16 in Kowloon, and 15 in the Now Territorios.

Buildings cortified for occupation consisted of three for domestic

purposos, 18 for non-domestic uso, and 12 for combined domostic and non-

domostic uso.

In addition, the Building Authority approved the demolition of

35 buildings throughout the Colony.
