Progress In Low Cost And Rosettlement Homas

$300 MILLION ON LOW COST HOUSING ALONE

Ono in soven of the population will have low rent homos in self-

contained flats in housing estatos throughout the Colony by 1974.

More than 330,000 are already living in ten Government Low Cost

Housing and oight Housing Authority estatos, and $300 million worth of

homes for another 280,000 aro being built.

These do not include the 13 estatos housing 107,000 built by tho

Hong Kong Housing Society, and the two Society estates for another 40,000

under construction.

Government low cost housing blocks now going up consist of oight

multi-storey buildings at Wong Chuk Hang for 31,700, night at Ko Chiu Road

for 21,100, five at Kwai Hing for 18,000, nino at Kwai Shing for 38,000,

eight at Kwai Fong for 29,600, and night at Lei Muk Shuo for 35,200.

In addition, sito formation is being carried out at four estates,

and piling has bogun on the last stage of the Kwai Fong project. Vihon

fully occupiod, they will together accommodate about 106,000.
