Dear Keshi
July 1970.
Thank you for your letter of 31st
First I should perhaps refer to the publicity which followed upon Mr. Hilton Cheong- leen's meeting with Mr. Royle, particularly since I gather from a letter from Michael Wright that Mr. Royle thought we might have been embarrassed by it. I can assure you that this was not the case. Publicity of this kind always follows such meetings and attracts no particular attention here.
We are glad that Laird will be able to ! visit Hong Kong next month. A programme is being
prepared on the assumption that he will arrive here on Wednesday 2nd September and leave perhaps on Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th September as may be convenient for him. A reservation has been made for him at the Mandarin Hotel. If, however, these dates are altered for any reason, please let us know as it is difficult to make reservations now-a-days at short notice.
