23.

With the relatively confined air space and shared training facilities there is a clear requirement for the coordination of a large proportion of the military flying in Malaysia and more especially Singapore. Under a three power arrangement the ANZUK Air Commander would be responsible for the coordination of other flying tasks with the IADS Commander. We should plan to provide the ANZUK Air Commander, in turn, from the Royal Air Force.

24. The RAF forces to be stationed in the Far East are small but will be boosted at frequent intervals by visiting training detachments. Furthermore other national tasks in the area may arise. There will therefore be a requirement for a RAF commander to control and supervise these tasks. We consider he should be a Group Captain, responsible to MOD (Air) and be called Commander Royal Air Force Singapore (CRAFS).
