NEXT OBJECTIVE OF EDUCATION POLICY
Governor's Comments On Post-Primary Schooling
The Governor, Sir David Trench, said today money and physical
resources would have to be found for the next major objective of education
policy the provision of three years of post-primary aided schooling for
every child seeking it.
In this quest, the Government welcomed the assistance of any
organisation interested in providing post-primary education, and the
Director of Education would carefully consider every plan in this field
submitted to him.
The Governor was speaking at the opening of the new 1,000-soat
Choung Chuk Shan School in Tin Hau Temple Road. In the audience vore
the Hon. Fung Ping-fan, Executive Councillor, Mrs. Choung Chuk-shan, whose
family he thanked for all they had done in education in Hong Kong; and
mombors of the Five Districts Business Wolfare Association, whose foresight
and initiative had resulted in plans for the school being realised.
The Governor said though it was more costly to provide education
at the socondary level as against primary education whore the Government's
goal to make it foo-froc was, ho hoped, now very noarly attained
results made such expenditure woll worthwhile.
