9,000 PUPILS AT MORRISON HILL
Training Of Craftsmen For Industry

Nine thousand pupils are making use of modern educational facilities
at the now Morrison Hill Tochnical Institute 578 full-time pupils,
485 on part-time day-roloase coursos, 71 on block-roloase courses, and
7,500 on part-time ovoning courses.
Sovoral short courses are to be opened soon, and when the instituto
is fully dovolopod, thoro will be room for 1,300 full-tino pupils, or an
equivalent number for block-roloase or part-time day-rolcaso coursos.
Tho instituto's main function is to train craftsmon and tochnicians
for industry, which moans all coursos aro vocational.
Coursos and subjects offorod aro on olomontary and intormodiato
lovols, and training is undortakon of tochnical teachers and workshop
instructors.
A spokesman for the instituto said today the lattor was an important
function, sinco tho oxpansion of technical education in Hong Kong depended upon
tho availability of trained teachers.

committeos of tho Industrial Training Advisory Committoo, and so make sure
syllabusos aro proparod aftor consultation with industrial roprosentativos
with their fingors on Hong Kong's actual noods.
