ME?..

Thank you for your letter of 10 July. I was very glad

to have an early statement of the views of your Association

on Hong Kong's position in our negotiations for entry to the

European Communities, and your kind offer of assistance.

I am, as you know, very conscious of the problems of

Hong Kong as a dependent territory of the U.K., and I will

bear these problems in mind during the negotiations.

I should be glad to meet you again and, as you suggest

in your letter, to discuss this question and to hear your

views on the problems raised for llong Kong. However, at

present, as you will appreciate, I am frightfully overcommitted.

I should therefore like to suggest that we defer a mooting

until a little later in the year. 12 I may, I will get in

touch with you again in a few wooks timo to suggest a dato.

I hope that you aro keeping well,

With kind regards
