By Our Own Correspondent
TOKYO, March 4. OFFICIALS OF the ruling Liberal-Democratic Party to-day sent a special message to every United States Congressman on the critical Japan-American textile issue in an attempt to resolve the problem which poses a threat to the economic partnership between Washington and Tokyo,
The letters, explaining the cir- cumstances behind Japan's refusal to agree to American demands for voluntary restrictions on exports of Japanese textile goods to the U.S. market, complain that Wash- ington has not yet made it suffi- ciently clear to Japan's textile firms just how exports to the U.S. market are injuring domestic makers.
In each of the letters it was pointed out that the Japanese textile industry is opposed to any form of limitation on growing ex- pot to the U.S. market. It was requested that the U.S. Ovide additional proof that Japanese exports are inflicting damage on American makers.
