and to refrain from leaving litter and
broken glass. The crowds which frequent
bathing beaches in Hong Kong present a great
problem in this respect, as is the case in
Britain and elsewhere.
Question 23
Under the present political situation
in Hong Kong where the loyalty of a Chinese
employee may be suspect, it must be difficult
to promote Chinese to key posts.
Although
some Chinese are promoted to senior positions
it is probable that more could be done to
increase the proportion of Chinese in the
senior grades.
Question 26
The Department of Commerce and Industry
and the Trade Development Council seem to
have been very successful in diversifying
Hong Kong's manufacturers and in finding
new markets. It is not clear what is meant
by protecting markets but Hong Kong's record
is manufacturing and exporting is a creditable
one of which any country would be proud.
