(b) The use of the Cheung Chau TVOR/DME by aircraft departing from
runway 31s an essential element of the organisation of the system satisfies the following interdependent functions
i) the initial flight path of the aircraft after take-off from runwa; 31 is such that overflight of Choung Chau does not requi, e intricate manouevring or positioning by the aircraft, the facility is in fact on-route;
ii) aircr: ft doparting to the south-west may follow a track which
proco: urally soparates them from aircraft arriving from the cast: iii) route for departing aircraft can be positioned away from areas
required for the soquencing of arriving aircraft, thus allowing reduced penalties to Operators in terms of delays and profile interi uptions.
(a)The standard departure routes based upon the Cheung Chau TVOR/DME

craft departing from runway 31, with minor variations included for specific routing:-
i) airer ft departing to the south west will leave Cheung Chau
on an assigned radial which is maintained until a distance of 40 n.m. at which point the aircraft will establish en the a signed climb radial and be cleared to climb above Fligh Level 150.
ii) aircr. It doparting to the east in traffic conditions where
there are no aircraft inbound from the east will route direct on to their assigned climb radial,
