We asked for teleprinters on the G.I.S. circuit to help C.D.0.s to become known as places where up-to-date accurate information was available. They are gradually being installed and in the few minor crises we have had they have been a considerable help. The availability of the full text of releases issued over night first thing in the morning is often useful. Departments housed in International Building, Lee Gardens and Kowloon Central Post Office have been invited to use the teleprinters we have when they wish to do so. They cost only $200-$300

a month and are a useful means of communication. When we have more installed they will be used to send circulars, P.E.S. amendments etc., from Beaconsfield House during off-peak hours.

Outstanding Points

There are two outstanding issues of a domestic nature.

The first is the question of branch offices. The rules for office accommodation prescribe the space allowed for the staff approved. Usually we have been able to house all the staff in a single office, but in Mong Kok and Kowloon City Districts this has not been possible. The rules have therefore enabled us to have branch offices in Tai Kok Tsui

and Hung Hom. We have also a S.C.A. branch office in Aberdeen for Western District. The Hung Hom and Aberdeen Branch Offices would have been desirable in any case because of the size of the Districts. The case for a branch office because of the size of the District is even stronger in
