Hor Majosty the Quoon has boon ploasad to instruct that Sir Ivo Rigby
should bo appointod Chiof Justico, Hong Kong.
Sir Ivo Rigby has boon Sonior Puisno Judgo, Hong Kong, sinco August
1961, and has actod as Chief Justico on a numbor of occasions.
Ho was born in 1911 and was oducatod at Magdalon Collogo School,
Oxford. Ho was called to tho Bar of the Innor Tomplo in 1932 and in 1935
was appointed to tho Colonial Sorvico as a Magistrato in Gambia. Sub soquantly
from 1938 until 1948 ho was Chiof Magistrato, Crown Counsql, and Prosidont of
a District Court in Palostino.
In 1948 ho bocamo an Assistant Judgo in Nyasaland, and scrvod in that
torritory until 1954, during the course of which poriod ho acted on various
occasions as Chiof Justico and as mombor of the Rhodusia-Nyasaland Court of
Appoal.
