At the school officers live in individual furnished bedrooms at a low monthly rent. All facilities are provided including sheets, blankets and furniture. The modern mess, near the living quarters, has a communal dining room, lounge and bar. Rooms are looked after by a servant, who also cleans and polishes uniform equipment.

On average, the monthly mess bill will be in the region of £31.18.0.

When an officer leaves the school he gets constant instruction in duty time. After 13 months of service he will go on a 10-week course at the Police Training Contingent, Fanling, where the emphasis is on riot control.

Before the end of two years' service, and again near the end of three years, all Proba- tionary Inspectors return to the Training School for further fortnightly courses.
