Dear Sir Michael,
You advised this Office recently that Her Majesty The Queen had indicated that She would be pleased to approve that the title "Royal" be accorded to the Hong Kong Police Force and the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force, and that we might approach Princess Alexandra to ascertain whether she would be prepared to become honorary "Commandant General" of the two Forces.
We have now obtained confirmation from Princess Alexandra that she would indeed be prepared to under- take the appointment.
Mr. Stewart would be grateful therefore if the proposals could now be formally placed before The Queen with a view to Her Majesty's pleasure being taken. Mr. Stewart is concurrently making a formal submission to Princess Alexandra to seek her formal agreement to her becoming honorary "Commandant General".
