to Your Majesty, has the honour respectfully to submit for Your Majesty's approval the proposal that the title "Royal" be accorded to the Hong Kong Police and Auxiliary Police Forces as a tribute to their loyalty and devotion to duty over a long period, and particularly during the Communist inspired disturbances which took place in the territory during

1967.

Mr. Secretary Stewart also submits to Your Majesty that Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra be appointed honorary "Commandant General" of the two forces. Her Royal Highness has indicated that she would be pleased to accept such an appointment if Your Majesty so approved.

The Governor of Hong Kong fully supports these proposals.
