In Confidence

You advised this office recently that

Princess Alexandra had indicated that she would

be delighted to become honorary "Commandant

General" of the Hong Kong Police Force and the

Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force; the

appointment being coupled with a proposal (which

had received Her Majesty's informal approval)

that the title "Royal" be accorded to both

forces.

Mr. Stewart would be grateful if the

proposal could now be formally placed before

Her Royal Highness for agreement. Mr. Stewart

is concurrently making a formal submission

to Her Majesty The Queen.
