VII.

Motor Transport

There are two vehicles on

strength, the B.T.C. office car and the B.D.S.K.O.

van.

It has a CC plate

The office car is a new one. but no flagpole. My predecessor used to fly the Board of Trade flag on the car, but I stopped this practice when I arrived. The Board of Trade officers were apparently permitted to use the office car freely to get them to and from their homes. This practice was stopped by an Inspector's minute when Hal Brown inspected the post a week or two after my arrival in 1965. The car is now used only on official occasions. In due course you may consider a second vehicle is necessary.

The B.D.S.M.0. van is fairly new. It is used for ferrying bags and personnel between the mail office and the airport.
