The Consulates General of the Netherlands and
Belgium present their compliments to the Department of
Commerce and Industry and have the honour to revert to
the agreement concerning trade in cotton textiles, ex-
cluding yarns, which was concluded on 18th November,
1968, between the Benelux Union and Hong Kong. More
specifically, they wish to refer to such provisions of
the agreement which limit to 600 metric ton yearly the
authorised quantity of "grey and bleached fabrics" of
Hong Kong origin to be exported to the Benelux countries.
56A)
According to informations received from the
Hong Kong government's office in Erussels, the ceiling
for these products will be reached shortly while the
governments of Benelux are desirous of importing, as
soon as possible, larger quantities of unbleached cot-
ton textiles from Hong Kong with a view to coping with
the growing needs of their re-export trade.
