The Commerce and Industry Department presents its complimente to the Consulates General of the Netherlands and Belgium and has the honour to acknowledge receipt of their communication dated 22nd April 1969.
The Commerce and Industry Department notes the desire of the Goverments of the Benelux Beonomie Union to meet the
growing needs in the Benelux countries of the re-export trade in unbleached cotton textiles, and is pleased to accept their proposals regarding the export from Hong Kong of additional "ex-ceiling" quantities of the products listed in the Annex to the Agreement signed on 18th November 1968 under the antegory handings B1 to B8 inclusive. Accordingly, the Commerce and Industry Department will, upon presentation of certified copies of Benelux import licences, issue Hong Kong export licences outside the relevant quota limit.
If it is desired, details of licences issued under
these arrangements can be sent to the Benelux authorities periodioslly through the Hong Kong Government Office in Brussels.
In order that these new arrangements may be implemented at an early date, the Commerce and Industry Department will appreciate sight of a specimen of the particular type of import licence the Benelux authorities will be using to cover this trade.
The Consul General of Belgium,
Hong Kong.
