Enclosure 4 to this circular. These scales are in respect of the first stage of the scheme effective on the 1st April 1969. Revised salary scales for the successive six stages will be published in due course.
METHOD OF CONVERSION

The salaries of all women in those grades included in the scheme will be converted from the points which they occupied in the existing salary scales on the 1st April 1969, to the equivalent points in the revised salary scales as set out in Enclosure 4 with effect from 1st April 1969. Existing incremental dates will be retained and as individual women officers become eligible for increments after the 1st April 1969 they will proceed to the next point on the appropriate revised salary scale, e.g. a woman officer remunerated from Model Scale 4 who was in receipt of a salary of $416 p.m. on 1st April 1969 will convert to a salary of $437 p.m. with effect from 1st April 1969 and will proceed to a salary of $470 p.m. on her normal incremental date.
COST OF LIVING ALLOWANCE

Cost of Living Allowance payable to those women officers remunerated from Model Scale 1 who are included in the scheme will also be adjusted by suitable stages over the period 1st April 1969 to 1st April 1975 until it reaches parity with the allowance payable to men. The revised amounts payable during the first year are set out in Enclosure 5.
EXPATRIATION ALLOW ANCE

Expatriation Allowance payable to those serving women officers who are eligible to receive it under the provisions of Establishment Regulations and who are included in the scheme will also be increased by suitable stages over the period 1st April 1969 to 1st April 1975 until it reaches parity with the allowance payable to men. The revised amounts payable during the first year are set out in Enclosure 6.
RENTS
8.
Women officers whose salaries are increased as a result of the decisions announced in this circular will pay the rents which are appropriate to their revised salaries with effect from 1st April 1969. (E.R.s 872(1) and (4) are relevant.)
MATERNITY LEAVE
9.
No change will be made to the regulations dealing with Maternity Leave at present, but it is intended eventually to reduce the amount of paid Maternity Leave which may be
