Your Majesty as it considered just and fit to achieve the Association's request for the immediate implementation of equal pay for all serving women officers. The Petitioner conveyed in writing to Hong Kong Government the decision of that meeting and requested that a satisfactory reply be given on or before 15th September, 1969. On 15th September 1969 the Hong Kong Government at a Senior Leivil Service bouncil meeting stated its inability to give a definite reply until six weeks later. This statement of Government was fully discussed in an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Association held on 20th September, 1969 and it was unanimously agreed thereat that the Association should wait for a satisfactory reply from Itong Kong Government until 3rd November, 1969.

That on 6th October, 1969 Government issued an Establishment Circular No. 35/69 announcing certain decisions concerning the implementation of the scheme for achieving equal pay for women officers in the Public Service, with the exception of 37 grades mainly in two professions, namely teachers and nurses. It is most disappointing to the Executive Council and members of the Association that these 37 grades have been deferred for consideration. Government was then requested to give assurance that in case
new inferior salary scale was announced, the serving women officers would be allowed to remain and to proceed after promotion on the existing serving male officers' salary scales so as complete equal pay for all
