Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will consult with the Government of Hong Kong with a view to introducing legislation governing the hours worked by shop attendants, waiters and lift operators in order to establish for them a working week not exceeding 50 hours; and if he will make a statement.

Although the hours for women and young persons in industrial establishments are limited by statute, this is not the case in other sectors. The conditions of employment of young persons in the hotel and restaurant trades are currently under examination by the Hong Kong Government.
