La/Co Mr. John Rankin (Glasgow, Govan):
To ask
the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, in what service industries in Hong Kong the hours worked by employees are still not in accordance with the standards laid down by the International Labour Organisation; and what steps he has taken to deal with the matter.
12th May, 1969
Mr. Wilhain Whitlock
As the United Kingdom, the Member State concerned, has not ratified those International Labour Organisation conventions which relate to hours of work, the question of applying those conventions to any Hong Kong industry does not arise.
